23 November 2009 - Public Affairs Ireland receives HETAC accreditation for Certificate in Project Management for Public Sector Administration

Public Affairs Ireland (PAI) has received a HETAC accreditation for its Certificate in Project Management for Public Sector Administration provided in conjunction with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Matheson Ormsby Prentice (MOP). The course is aimed at providing the skills for delivering successful and value-for-money projects within the Public Sector.

 

The Civil Service Centre for Management and Organisation Development (CMOD) has been supporting a Public Sector designed Project Management training course to address the need for such skills in the Public Sector. Following a competitive tender, a consortium of Public Affairs Ireland (PAI), PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Matheson Ormsby Prentice (MOP) were ed as the winning team to deliver the training. Over the past two years, the consortium has delivered the training to over 150 people across the Public Sector.

 

The course was recently awarded a Special Purpose level 6 Higher Education & Training Awards Council (HETAC) award.

 

Speaking about the course, Michael Errity, Assistant Secretary General for the Personal and Remuneration Division at the Department of Finance said: “The Department of Finance ed the consortium of PAI, PwC and MOP on foot of a public tendering exercise to provide a certified training programme on project management. This programme provides practical insights into the management of complex projects in today’s challenging environment. Participants in the programme receive a valuable perspective on practical project management and procurement issues to maximise their ability to deliver projects within the Public Sector. In addition, participants gain an understanding of government initiatives and develop skills and techniques enabling them to take the lead on major projects”.

 The course consists of 3 modules and is delivered over a 10 week period. It focuses on core project management, hard and soft skills as well as legal, contractual and procurement issues and includes guest speakers and a number of practical case studies.
