The keynote speaker will be Dara Calleary TD, Minister for Public Sector Transformation and the conference will also feature: PJ Fitzpatrick, Chairman of the Implementation body Philip Kelly, Assistant Secretary-General, Department of the Taoiseach and member of the implementation body; Shay Cody, General Secretary, IMPACT and member of the implementation body; Lucy Fallon-Byrne, National Economic and Social Development Office (NESDO), William Slattery, Managing Director of State Street International (Ireland) Ltd; Harry Goddard, Partner, Deloitte; Carol Fawsitt, Partner, Hayes Solicitors; Andy Cullen former Assistant Secretary-General, Department of Transport.

Issues to be addressed will include:
* what is the transformation agenda
* how will it affect my work and my organisation?
* how will change and transformation be achieved?
* what does increased flexibility and mobility mean for public servants?
* how can efficiencies be achieved in the light of staff shortages?
* how will savings be measured?
* how will the agreement be implemented and monitored?
This conference aims to address some of the issues arising and should be attended by all civil and public servants interested in how this Agreement is likely to impact on them.

Keiran Mulvey, Chief Executive of the Labour Relations Commission, Ombudsman and Information Commissioner Emily O'Reilly and Dermot McCarthy, the Secretary General at the Department of An Taoiseach were among the keynote speakers at a timely PAI conference on current challenges facing the Irish Public Service. The speakers addressed the current climate within the public service and asked what kind of public service does the country wants. They also addressed possible options for strengthening the public service.
Charlie McCreevy, the EU Commissioner for the Internal Market and Services was the keynote speaker at a Public Affairs Ireland Conference on regulation and the national economy held on Friday, 18 September 2009. The conference "Regulating Ireland - reforming regulatory structures for a new economy" examined the role of regulation in securing an economic recovery and achieving national competitiveness.
A wide range of speakers including representatives from Government, the regulatory agencies, business and the law, discussed the current regulatory structures.
