The PAI Directory 2010 provides a clear concise overview of government and a changing public service and is an ideal point of reference for public sector professionals, the private sector and ordinary citizens alike.
Compiled and updated over 6 months, the Directory is designed for easy use. In one compact, 300 page volume, the Directory brings together information about the members of government and junior ministers, members of the Oireachtas and the opposition spokespersons, civil service departments, and the agencies under their aegis – and is organised by reference to the areas of responsibility of each government department. As the European Union plays a central role in Irish legislation and regulation, the Directory has been expanded this year to include a chapter on the European Union. This chapter aims to give a concise presentation of the European Union’s institutions and agencies relevant to Ireland.
The Directory also has contact details for all Irish embassies and diplomatic representative offices.
Additionally, the Directory includes updates on any changes introduced by Budget 2010, and also the continuing organisational adjustments arising from Budget 2009. Subscribers and members of PAI may order copies free of charge. Please call 01 819 8500 or email: info@publicaffairsireland.com.
HETAC Level 6 Special Purpose Award
This programme addresses the needs of those involved in the management of complex projects including IT-related projects in the public sector. It was developed on foot of an open competition organised by the Centre for Management and Organisation Development (CMOD) in the Department of Finance. A consortium of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Public Affairs Ireland and Matheson Ormsby Prentice put forward the winning tender and the course is designed and delivered for the civil and public service on a dedicated basis.
By taking a pragmatic approach that focuses on practical project management learning techniques as opposed to theory, participants get a valuable insight into practical procurement and project management issues that maximises their ability to deliver future projects in ICT and other areas. A core component of the course is to deliver practical awareness and understanding of the recent government initiatives regarding the management and governance of ICT projects. Participants develop skills and techniques which give them the ability to take on and lead major projects, as well as transfer their ICT project management knowledge to other team/department members.
On successful completion of the course, including assignments and final examination, delegates receive a HETAC Level 6 Special Purpose Award.
The next course commences on 25 March 2010. For more information click here.
